Hannes Wessels,

What surprises me about the recent revelation that the BBC had deliberately edited the Trump speech delivered on January 6th, 2020, when protestors stormed the Capitol, to make it appear he was inciting violence, is that anyone is surprised.

Blatant lying, selective reporting and twisting the facts, has long been part of the corporation’s modus operandi.

BBC has been able to get away with this entrenched behaviour because their staff are seldom accountable, the public is coerced into paying a compulsory license fee that rewards the public broadcaster no matter how badly it performs, and I’m afraid the British public have long lacked the sagacity to see through the big con in which they have for decades been the victims.

Growing up in Rhodesia my generation learned quite quickly because we suffered early exposure to the sort of vindictive vitriol and falsehoods that have since been visited upon a multitude of people, groups and countries when ‘BEEB’ Bosses decided they did not like or agree with someone.

In our case it was a white minority government that they decreed was repugnant and set zealously about its destruction. They were unrelenting in their crusade to achieve that goal through the broadcasting of consistently biased, and in many cases, factually incorrect information.

Ironically, one man who saw through their trickery very early on was then Prime Minister Ian Smith. Following a meeting with then UK Prime Minister Harold Wilson, Smith was invited by the BBC to be interviewed along with the then Archbishop of Canterbury, who was also a fierce critic of the Rhodesian prime minister.

Smith promptly accepted, but on one important condition; that the interview was broadcast live. This rattled the BBC and they turned the condition down, insisting it be filmed, recorded, then edited before publication. Smith refused to participate. He knew then that they would manipulate his words to manufacture the narrative they preferred; and this is exactly what they did to President Trump.

Looking back on those years when we, the ‘white supremacists’ of southern Africa were being vilified by the BBC it’s worth remembering that we had no idea that they, our most vocal and effective critics, were also fully involved in running a massive paedophile operation and providing a safe and comfortable haven for a legion of perverts and sexual predators of varying proclivities.

One of them was Jimmy Savile, a human monster who attacked thousands of often defenceless victims aged 5 to 75 in a criminal career that lasted over 50 years. His depravity extended to the morgue where he bragged of having engaged in sexual activity with cadavers and stealing glass eyes from the dead to fashion jewellery.  The incidents ranged from inappropriate touching to rape and involved victims from children to pensioners, the mentally retarded, hospital patients and female staff alike.

But the BBC hierarchy kept Saville close, protected him from scrutiny and criticism, and Sir Keir Starmer, then Director of Public Prosecutions, declined to prosecute because he claimed there was insufficient evidence. Loved by the Royal Family, Sir Jimmy was knighted for his efforts and went to his grave unpunished.

If there is any doubt about how institutionally rotten this organisation is figures released some years ago under Freedom of Information regulations, indicated 539 staff had signed gagging orders at a total cost of £28 million. The scale of the pay-outs led to accusations that the BBC was using the agreements to silence potential whistle- blowers and victims of bullying or sexual harassment.

The biggest payoffs were made to BBC managers, with 77 executives receiving more than £100,000 and 14 over £300,000. They included George Entwistle, the former director-general who received a £450,000 payoff, double the amount he was contractually entitled to. He resigned in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal after spending just 54 days in the job.

With a history as unsavoury as this, it is easier to understand the sickness of the collective mindset that inspires their producers and presenters to inform the world that trans-women’s chest-milk is just as nutritious as mother’s breast milk, and to cheer on a man masquerading as a women, who beats a woman into bloody submission to win an Olympic medal.

They have got away with this nonsense for far too long because they are, to all intents and purposes, above the law, so it is easier to understand why those now in Trump’s crosshairs appear somewhat bewildered at suddenly being held to account. It’s because they are serial bullies, who have had the money and power to target and destroy people on a whim, and they have become intoxicated with their own positions and status.

Finally, BBC has picked on someone bigger than itself, who will not yield, and it is going to hold them to account. Like the cowards they are, they are frightened, turning on one another and running for cover.

God bless President Trump, and here’s hoping he does Britain and the world a favour by destroying this ghastly institution.

  1. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (“Aussie ABC”) emulated the BBC. There was a time when I openly considered myself to be a “friend of the ABC”. As the BBC slowely sunk into the myre of western ‘leftist’ perfidy, so followed the Aussie ABC. Like the majority of Africaunauthorised readers we value the truth, even if it rubs up against our values. The Truth is the truth. Professional journalism can only survive with that yardstick in mind.

  2. Hannes – excellent article and right on the money.
I do think Ian Smith was truly beyond his years in wisdom on how the UK would handle Rhodesia…and so far his predictions were correct.
Donald Trump was correct – the Media is truly the enemy of the people. I do hope the world is waking up, as it seems the UK media is having to work overtime to control the narrative of what is really happening with “refugees” they are brining in.
Time will tell, but I hope it is not too late for our world.
I do not envy the place Jimmy Saville’s soul is currently in.

  3. I’ve read this article twice, and feel I must add my thoughts. Firstly, and unequivocally, I hold no agenda for the BBC. They have been found to have manipulated footage of Trump giving a speech on Jan 6th, 2020. That manipulation undoubtably endeavoured to paint a picture that was not true or correct. But any sane numbnut (apologies for the colloquialism) would doubt that Trump acted in a manner that befits the moniker of “Leader of the Free World”, on that particular day. I, as a proud Rhodesian, am very happy to associate myself with Ian Smith, a man of integrity & the utmost honesty and forthrightness. I personally do not hold the same view of this so-called “Leader of the Free World”. In fact, he has demonstrated what an absolute liar he is on many occasions, and quite frankly, has displayed the social skills of a goat on many occasions (don’t forget how he treated Zelensky in front of the cameras – a brave man who fights and leads a country against the very same terrorists we fought against). So by all means, bring to our attention the failings of the BBC (past and present), but please do not at the same time try to sanitise Trump in the same article, defend a discredited individual, and, lets not forget, employs all manner of obfuscation and deviousness to prevent the release of the Epstein Files, which may divulge acts of devious behaviour/crimes against young girls on his behalf. Trump/Vance vs Zelensky reminds me so much of Smith vs Carter/Andrew Young. You posted an article previously about differences you have had with friends in discussions with Trump – perhaps you should listen more, and talk less when it comes to Trump.

    1. Hi Spike, I wasn’t trying to ‘sanitise’ Trump actually. I’m just applauding his intention to hold the BBC accountable for their actions. On Zelensky, I’m afraid we disagree, I think he’s corrupt, and authoritarian, and I also think he should hold an election sometime. Epstein/Trump, we shall see but I think the Biden administration, which had access to all the files, would have used any incriminating information to help in their quest to destroy Trump.

      1. This reply sums up the Truth about the actual situation today. trump is a business man and not a lifelong politician, so he looks at situations and problems far differently than a DEM OR GOP PARTY, MEMBER WOULD EVER DO.
AS FAR AS IAN SMITH GOES, I would gladly have followed that LEADER to Hell and Back and done this proudly. the sad part is he had to remain alive long enough to witness every word he predicted about Rhodesia after July 1980, sickeningly become actual fact…

  4. Good article Hannes. However I do wonder why people slavishly pay the license fee and continue to support the BBC but then complain. I cancelled my license years ago and just watch the many other channels and podcasts. I didn’t die!! We do have the power to decide and if everyone who is disgruntled did that, they’d collapse anyway. What an awful organisation they are.

  5. Growing up as a teenager in Rhodesia during the UDI years, Ron Robson, the BBC correspondent was our neighbor. A really nice man, and I am not sure he fully subscribed to his employers point of view. Across the street from Ron, lived my uncle, Mick Croudace, whose job at the PTC at that time was to run and maintain the transmitters that jammed the BBC’s Botswana based radio stattion that broadcast “The World and Rhodesia” – the BBC’s anti-Rhodesia propaganda program. Somehow we all got along as neighbors – that was the Rhodesian way!

  6. The BBC lost all of it’s objectivity the day the first Labour government got control over it, back in the 1930’s. Remember they set up phony broadcasting facilities in Botswana, simply for the purpose of both intimidating and feeding pure bull, to the people of Rhodesia in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Was this pathetic activity within their operating mandate ??
Until Britain changes the downward path it is on right now, the BEEB can never be trusted again to speak the absolute Truth, when on the air..

    1. Yes indeed they did Doug. And they claim to be impartial. Unfortunately, too many people have looked the other way for too long.

  7. You tell nothing but the truth and the whole truth!
The BBC is the most blatant propaganda broadcaster in the world. Rivalling and eclipsing anything North Korea or the Kremlin can dream of.
Herr Goebbels must be spinning in his grave with envy.
The BBC extracts tens of millions of pounds by imposing a compulsory licence (aka a TAX). Currently £175 per year. If you do not have one, you have to prove that you do not own a TV set. Inspectors can enter your home and search for a set. If they find one, it is a £1,000 fine and possible imprisonment. It is not a licence to watch TV, it is a licence to own a TV set, so you cannot watch any UK TV without that licence.
ALL the licence money collected goes to the BBC, the other broadcasters, SKY, ITV, etc, receive none of it.
Broadcasting in the UK is controlled by a regulatory body, OFCOM. They monitor what is broadcast “to ensure impartiality” (!!!) and can fine (very heavily) and infringement. Now, the strange thing is this…..OFCOM are not allowed to monitor the BBC, so they can say and do what they like….as they are supposed to be “self-regulating and operate under a Charter, renewable every seven years.
This cosy protection bubble the BBC has enjoyed for many decades got a shock four years ago when GBNews was set up. Purely a news channel on TV and radio, they are now the most widely watched channel in the UK……as declared by OFCOM !!!
For the last four months, GBNews has throunced all the other stations, and the gap is widening. The establishment has tried to close down GBNews, but they cannot prove anything as GBNews always has at least one ot two Lefties on every discussion panel. The panels argue the toss on the political questions of the day. It is highly entertaining to see the Left get skewered every time as their crazy policies are exposed to the public….. and the hypocrisies are revealed. Most Leftiesnow refuse to appear, but money talks so there are always those willing to be embarrassed!
You mention the BBC being a haven for paedos and sex predators like Jimmy Savile, Rolf Harris, Max Clifford, Huw Edwards …. and dozens more.
The BBC wrings its hands and declares itself ignorant of what has been hiding in the organisation. Then, as sure as night follows day, another degenerate is exposed.
The BBC is called “Aunty” because it supposedly offers “Wholesome entertainment for the whole family.”
Some years ago, the BBC had a children’s programme in which Captain Pugwash sailed his tugboat, The Black Pig. The paedos at the BBC decided to insert their preferences into the programme, so they named the crew as: The mate, Master Bates, and the cabin-boy as Roger.
So the kids were running about shouting Master Bates and Roger the Cabin Boy. Parents were irate, and the BBC claimed innocence.
The hidden joke behind those names was (so they claimed) over the heads of the BBC controllers and OFCOM, but it did take the show off the air as it was considered unacceptable to call the tug-boat Black Pig. Race relations and all that, you know!
Trump must win,=, even a token sum of money, but he must also ban the BBC from the US by cancelling the visas of their staff.
That will be the ultimate humiliation for them as the BBC shamelessly calls itself the premier News channel of the world!

  8. As usual, absolutely on the point!! But, whilst the said corporation enjoy ‘free money’ with no accountability, it’s a difficult problem to fix. Defund the BEEB resonates more loudly by the day. Keep up your super-articles😎

  9. Your courage to state the TRUTH and reflect the continued decline of a once respected profession and a once admired COUNTRY. The impact to a continued susceptible youth, led to believe in MEDIA and sponsored gifted peoples with little to NO moral value is horendous and easily projected to a continued
cultural disaster. GOD’S BLESSINGS and GRACE TO ALL…FAITH HOPE LOVE…Capt. Dale F. Buss PhD

  10. Thank you for this excellent review of the history of the BBC. We look forward to Trump providing the exposure that it deserves.

  11. Of all the state-run, state-owned, state-sponsored or state-financed broadcasting corporations I think the BBC is one of the best – despite its periodic failures. In fact, when trying to get a handle on a particular issue these days — which is extremely difficult given the relentless rise of social media — I tend to first turn to the BBC.
