Hannes Wessels,
Twenty one years ago ‘The Guardian’, that fountain of fake news, published an article based on a Pentagon report which helped drive the ‘Global Warming’ hysteria then sweeping the world a notch higher.
Among the catastrophic predictions, violent storms would soon render large parts of the Netherlands including The Hague uninhabitable, and parts of California would be flooded. Europe would suffer an average temperature drop of 6°F, civil strife would see the deaths of millions in South Africa, Indonesia and India, the American Midwest would be devastated by soil-loss caused by strong winds, 400 M people in sub-tropical regions would face starvation, and Bangladesh would become uninhabitable due to rising sea levels.
Fuel was added to the fire by former US Vice-President Al Gore who helped produce the documentary film. ‘The Inconvenient Truth’, which caught the world’s attention and explained the world was in the lethal grip of a ‘global-warming pollution’ that had created a ‘heat-trap’ containing the same energy as thousands of atomic bombs. Gore went on to tell his audience the North Polar ice-cap was ‘falling off a cliff’ and would be gone in ‘seven years’ which was ten years ago. That sea-levels would be up 20’ ‘in the near future’. We were also told Polar Bears were heading for extinction, and the Himalayan glaciers would soon vanish. For his prescience Gore, along with Rajendra Pachauri from the IPCC (International Panel on Climate Change), was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize.
This despite the fact a core-group of IPCC scientists was caught red-handed deleting data and manipulating graphs that did not fit their models. In the investigation that followed it turned out violations of scientific ethics on the panel had become common. Pachauri, incidentally, resigned subsequently, following the levelling of allegations of sexual harassment. Al Gore, profited enormously from his pontificating as the man who was going to save the world from self-destruction.
In 2018 Greta Thunberg relayed the news on ‘X’ that, ‘A top climate scientist is warning climate change will wipe out humanity unless we stop using fossil fuels over the next five years’.
The list of the rich, famous, and influential who have joined the alarmist clamour in terrifying the world into fearful submission is endless but it includes Bill Gates, George Soros, virtually the entire Hollywood ‘A List’, and almost every Western head of state that has held office in the last 30 years except President Donald Trump.
So it was with much interest I read of the recent United Nations sponsored Climate Change Conference in Belem in Brazil where the venue caught fire and a forest was felled to facilitate access for the thousands of delegates.
Triggered to some extent by Bill Gates’ belated admission that the alleged crisis has been greatly exaggerated, it seems the protagonists of this huge hoax are finally running out of runway. While the organisers have reported a success and further progress in the ‘fight to save humanity’, it seems banks have lost interest, politicians are changing their tune, celebrities are muted, Greta Thunberg has turned her attention to Palestine, electric-car sales are plummeting, and Australia has declined the offer to host the conference next year.
In short the game is up for the fraudsters but the cost to the world of this deception, while gargantuan in financial terms, is incalculable in terms of the price paid by people whose lives have been impacted through increased energy costs, lowered standards of living, and the emotional cost of living in fear of the world ending catastrophically within their lifetimes.
For me personally, as a white African who cares about the continent I call home, the rage might be greater. Because I am witness to possibly the greatest environmental catastrophe of modern times caused by the deforestation of vast swathes of sub-Saharan Africa, and none of the above-mentioned charlatans have paid it the slightest attention, let alone done anything about it. One asks where has all the hundreds of billions of dollars raised over the last 30 years gone and what have the architects of this movement, and the managers of the multitude of NGO’s and related organisations got to show for what they have done with it?
If the crime of ‘racketeering’ includes the raising of money under false pretences, as I believe it does, then surely there are many people of wealth, influence and power who deserve a day in court.

Another good one Hannes. Keep them coming.
As the writer H.L. Mencken famously put it:-
“The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamours to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary.”
So I wonder what terrifying, life-threatening, apocalyptic piece of fake news they will throw at us next?
They did pretty well instilling total fear into 95% of the world’s population with the covid/vaccination/lock-down debacle so another deadly disease created in a laboratory would be my bet.
Yes Al, looking back I think what distresses me the most is how easy it is for politicians to terrify and deceive their electorates. This can only be achieved if those people are simply stupid, or ignorant. Not much one can do about ‘stupid’ but no excuse in this day and age for being ignorant because never before has information been so easily accessible.
It is only racketeering if you or I do it! The sainted global oligarchy is in its own bubble of impunity.
Another Great article! Hope Greta reads it!!
Dear Mr. Wessels,
Thank you for your brief but simplistic list of historic climate change distortions.
Claims that are not only false, but represent deftly uninformed opinions. These false prophets have a delusional uniformity and present as a mockery of the scientific method. In short, a prohibitively costly non-solution to a non-existent problem, entirely motivated by greed and power.
Mr. Wessels, I now await your solutions in part two of your article.
Dudzira. In the agricultural and environmental world today – we have the privilege of resting upon the shoulders of absolute giants now passed on (RIP) and living. The list of Africans that have made vast contributions over the last 100 years and more is vast. The models and knowledge is also vast now – but the principles as espoused by the likes of Keith Harvey are correct, and timeless, but still simple. Environmental degradation has caused the net retention of about 3 Watts per square metre of the earth’s surface to be retained by the earth. I recall from Walter Jehne that the radiation coming in is 342 Watts per square metre but only 339 Watts are remitted out of the earth. Prior to massive deforestation etc it was in equilibrium. Jan Smuts and his young Donga Doctors might not have had these exact figures 77 years ago – but they did know that there was a problem and set about reversing the degradation via a massive conservation programme from 1950. They knew that there had to be a reversal and it is pretty much common knowledge now apart from perhaps politicians and their lackeys.
Most interesting; thank you for sharing this information. What a pity the people with power and influence appear to have little or no interest in the facts.
100% correct HW. You will recall that blokes like Billy Teague and Keith Harvey were trained at Wits having had a safari in the desert with Monty’s 8th Army, but emigrated to SR as they qualified when their conservation Mentor Jan Smuts got the boot in the 1948 election. Those Wits Donga Doctors started with a totally blank canvas and built Conex, NRB and the ICA movement off their own bat and effort on frugal govt. Salaries because their heart was in it. The risk we seem to face is that their works and benchmarking is now ignored as being old fashioned. There are similar stories in Australia where the similar old brains trust of CSIRO were steamrolled out about 25 years ago – and just like Africa the environment and weather are inextricably linked. Bureaucratic Green Washing and propaganda can now match that of the ANC and ZANU. The fundamental principles of the NRB, Conex and the ICA systems have stood the test of time – but the evidence on the ground is epitomised by the burnt shell of a Beit Hall in Plumtree. The natural environment will indeed strike back at mankind.
How right you are Sir. Incredible what those CONEX people came up with. And at so little cost to the country. Men and women of that acumen and mettle could still save Africa but they were banished to the sidelines by political conmen. And not sure if they make them like that anymore.
What a great effort that Conex and All the Rural and Agricultural Agencies put in and even in the worst of the Bush War situations, THEY still went valiantly out into rural areas to show better farming and livestock, production methods.
Far advanced over 99% of any other country in Africa, making rough land areas, into producing valuable crops and livestock..
Alex Newman visited COP 30 in Brazil and these are his views.
Another great broadcast from Olive Tree Views…..

Hi Hannes, I agree. I had not realised the extent of what you describe as “the devastation of large swathes of sub Saharan Africa.” Who is behind this and way?
It’s a lot to do with rapid population growth Will. Increasing poverty places more pressure on nature as wildlife is decimated for protein and trees are felled for fields, but also for charcoal which is now big business in many African countries. I gather much of it goes to the UAE where they shun gas when cooking their camels, preferring charcoal for the enhanced meat-flavour. As mentioned in the comment above there are no CONEX officers these days to manage water and land-use, now it’s slash and burn.
Good article Hannes. Will the dishonest fraudsters and charlatans be held to account. I doubt it. William Happer is touring New Zealand. He is a guy I have followed since before he became Trump’s advisor in his first term. He explained there was a huge push back against the climate scam in the US. The wind turbines need to be ripped put.
HANNES:
Here is my solution to ALL these Shysters who pushed this Climate Disaster B…S… onto a gullible World. Take every one of them and place them on a high Arctic Ice Flow, and with the barest of Living Essentials and let us see how clever and sharp, these people, ( spewing out so much Verbal Diahorrea), about false things — will exist !!
Sound like a Good Plan to You ??
Great reminder of how easily most of us were duped by these self-serving climate morons: Long may they wonder the “Scorched Earth,” naked and without water, shelter and fuel for warmth.!!!
