I started writing this article after compiling numerous research documents about the Special Military Operation (“SMO”) and NATO’s response. But then I realized—I’m too late. A deep, intellectual analysis of the Trump-Vance vs. Zelensky spat in the Oval Office might be interesting for the history books, but it won’t save the “Old Slav” dying on the battlefield today.
Let’s start again. The rights and wrongs of the Ukraine war will fade into history, and the winner will write the majority report.
Right now, Russia is cleaning Ukraine’s clock because NATO, the U.S., and the European Union (“EU”) refuse to commit ‘boots on the ground.’ And why is that? Simple. The people of these countries are not willing to risk life and limb to save Ukraine. They sit comfortably in their homes, watching high-definition war footage every night. They see Ukrainian bodies, not their own, being torn apart by drones and artillery.
The EU can pontificate all it wants—Ursula von der Leyen can deliver her best Churchillian impressions—but the moment EU body bags start piling up, she’ll be chased out of Brussels faster than a Russian tank through an open field.
So, in the immediate future, the aging, pressed, hollow-eyed, sagging ‘Slav’ will be forced onto the front lines.
“Step smart, Slav!” a corporal barks. “Move before a Russian drone spots you. Don’t get killed before you even dig a hole.”
“Fuck that,” the old Slav thinks, hobbling toward a half-bombed building. He waves a dirty white handkerchief over his head, his voice hoarse from exhaustion.
“I surrender! Take me to Leader Vladimir Putin!”
This is the reality on the Ukrainian front.
Given this grim truth, what was the real focus of that infamous Oval Office meeting?
No wonder Zelenskyy found himself kicked out on his ass.
Trump, sitting behind the Resolute Desk, leans back with a smirk.
“So, let me get this straight, Volodymyr. You want more money. More weapons. And no accountability. That about right?”
(Incidentally, General Mike Flynn, briefly President Trump’s National Security Adviser before being hounded out by ‘Deep State’ operatives led by FBI Directory James Comey, insists the Ukraine conflict will be remembered as the biggest money laundering operation in history.)
J.D. Vance, standing off to the side, arms crossed, chuckles.
“You’ve already got over $100 billion from us. Where’s it all gone?”
Zelenskyy, shifting uncomfortably, wipes sweat from his brow because the truth does not come easily to the former comedian.
“Look, gentlemen, Ukraine is fighting for democracy, for the West, for all of you! If Russia wins, they won’t stop with us.” Trump shakes his head.
“Save it for CNN. The American people don’t want endless wars. They don’t want their tax dollars vanishing into a black hole.”
Zelenskyy’s mouth opens, but Trump raises a hand.
“Pack your bags.”
The Ukrainian president is left speechless. Within the hour, he’s out on Pennsylvania Avenue, clutching his coat against the cold and off to get warm embraces from British Prime Minister Starmer and King Charles and promises of support. The problem is it has been pointed out the British Army could not fill Wembley Stadium so the reality nice words don’t really count here.
So now, barely a week later, Zelenskyy is crawling back—this time with apologies and appendage in hand.
The scene: Another desperate visit to Washington. This time, he’s not demanding. He’s pleading.
“We appreciate everything the United States has done,” he says, voice softer, eyes darting between officials. “We understand that accountability is important. We will do better. We just… we just need to continue this partnership.”
The message is clear: Ukraine is in trouble. Ammunition is running low. The front is collapsing in the east. And without U.S. aid, Zelenskyy knows exactly what comes next.
The room is silent. The Americans exchange glances. Then, one voice speaks up.
“Maybe,” Vance says. “But it’s going to be on our terms now.”
And maybe the Americans should tell this charlatan to wear a suit when he returns with the begging bowl.

I am sorry but I lost your drift
. What point were you making?
What a load of biased tosh.
A song sheet for the gangsters, Putin and Trump to cheer over…. with the inevitable chorus of “I’m alright, Jack” idiots that always bubble to the surface like effluent at the sewerage farm. Support for the gangster ambitions of Trump… “gimme Canada, Panama, Greenland and Gaza and Mr Putin can take Ukraine and all of Eastern Europe. ”
Until this year, North Korea was at the pinnacle of Rogue Nations; now, the USA wears that crown.
It is shameful of you to write such utter nonsense, and it is even worse that you are allowed to voice it in this forum.
Errol – GGS
Why do people with nothing constructive to say resort to obscure acronyms? If you cannot be open with your words, it would be best to refrain.
Errol, you are an insufferable ignoramus and make assumptions operating at the Dunning Kruger level.
Thank you for your kind words…. are they dictated by your Kremlin paymasters?
Add to the Trump ambitions. “I already own Aberdeen, so how about I have Scotland.”
The babbling of a lunatic, or would you disagree?
Errol, careful your left leaning propaganda is showing through. You need to tilt a little to the right or get your news from different sources.
You sound threatening.
Far from left-leaning, I am firmly on the right, but I know the difference between right and wrong.
Maybe you should study such moral concepts and not allow your preconceived political views to overshadow your thinking.
Well said LT !!
Allan, I agree.
Errol – GGS.
Well stated. Next the signatures, the negotiated Peace, and then the bull dozers digging the ground. That short piece we saw where Putin negotiates Peace with mining and assignment of metals et al assets underneath the ground that ends up under Russian control would open a new era that may be good for all parties in the region…..including the USA.
Michael, “Cest vie, say the old folks, It goes to show you never can tell” BRAVO.
What is GGS
Guns Germs Steel?
How the West was won!
The Urban Dictionary has many other meanings.
Alan, is means “go get…….”
I’m inclined to agree with you Errol – two wrongs do not make a right and America has not done much for detente. Will, this may be your opinion, said with journalistic licence, but you portray a pretty unbalanced perspective and dare I say, seemingly with glee. There is no middle road here and its not a game – maybe GGS only to Trump who, in Mafioso style is making an offer Zelenski cannot refuse. We are Africans and the USA has pretty much absconded from the continent, whether justified or not, and Europe is thoroughly distracted now in shoring up the breaches. In the created vacuum we had better get used to cosying up to the usual culprits, China and Russia, who will swoop in on the spoils – and, in true mafia style, that is not going to be easy.
Koos, I am empathetic to the Ukraine tragedy because they are victims of an international power-play. Rhodesia was also a victim of a different powerplay, but nobody made Rhodesia an offer, and when John Giles insisted upon an offer being made, MI6 murdered him. Zellensky got an offer and stupidly refused it. America was never an empirial power in Africa. The Europeans / Canadians / Australians only have themselves to blame, and will have to dig themselves out of their own dilemma. As for South Africa, my advise is to tread carefully, nobody likes a poor weak and pathetic loser. I agree the USA is a fairweather friend and an even worse fairweather enemy. Russia knows this. Make no error, I am delighted that DJT and the MAGA Movement have replaced the corrupt, diseased and sclerotic US Democrat Party / ‘Deep State’. There is a new order and the pipsqueaks like Kier Starmer, Macron and Friedrich Merz have a very limited time before their electorates throw them out.
The glee that you perceive is what Will expresses when his pay from the Kremlin appears in his bank account.
Errol I’m all for robust debate but I think your comments are getting silly now. Please try and lift your game and stop being stupid.
As you say. GGS.
Will is right on the money. If Errol thinks Trump is corrupt and the previous administration was not he is delusional. What Trump has achieved in less than six weeks makes him the most competent president under the worst circumstances ever He might be a bit crass at times but what a breath of fresh air he’s been although I predicted he would stop the war in a month six weeks is still remarkable. John D
Will,
When the world is in turmoil, the beginnings of which are already apparent, think back to this wannabe thriller you penned, bad dialogue and all.
Trump and his sidekick cum boss are dismantling the world and all the safeguards in place to prevent a takeover by tyrants and oligarchs.
As Zelenaky (whom I have respect but no opinion of otherwise) said to Trump, America will feel the pain in the future or words to that effect. The understatement of the year.
Keep grovelling bowing and scraping to this seditious traitor like the sycophant you are. He will bring this world to its knees.
And please, for Heavens sake don’t hit me with your asinine GGS. It’s childish.
Cheers..
I agree, totally.
Anthony, it is called free speech and I entirely disagree with you. The US electorate voted your ink OUT OF OFFICE and Trump is returning the US to wholesome traditi0nal values. Now GGS.
Will, you are correct. That is the cold hard truth. Like the shameful display in congress during Trump’s speech.
I fought for Rhodesia. I joined the regular army and I did the get muddy, get tired, get shot at thing. I was not the best or bravest soldier of the war and I spent most of my time in relatively safe pursuits within the army, but I was there. I enjoyed it at the time, well mainly. I thought we were in with a chance of winning, then the politicians took over, my Constitutional law lecturer took a swan dive out of Lancaster House, and we got royally poked. I looked after a polling station with a British Bobby. He was appalled by what he saw and gave an affidavit to that effect, which the governor (naturally) ignored. Then I stayed on with the Zimbabwe National Army, got promotion, worked with BMATT (British Military Assistance Training Team) and watched as Mugabe consolidated his power. Many good men (and a few women) lost their lives in that war. Today they should have grand children, they should be living fulfilled lives, but they have been dead 40+ years and no-one cares, not really. Turkeys who never heard a bullet go past parade around in military fatigues and pretend they (or their fathers) beat the Rhodesians, or the South Africans, or whoever, but we all know that they didn’t. I think of the Ukrainian youth (or older as you suggest), the Russian youth too, who do the dying and I just think of the waste – our dead, our maimed, and those with invisible wounds. In 40 years, the ordinary people will still be trying to make ends meet, the government will still be a cynical non-representative self-serving construct, but those who died will still have been wasted.
I am sorry but I lost your drift
. What point were you making?
The point I was making is that the cost of war in lives is hardly ever worth it. Once you’ve been in one, you see that. There’s no glory for the people who do the fighting, and no money either, the soldiers and their families make nothing and live with the grief and other scars. The politicians will do what serves them irrespective of the rights and wrongs. The Ukraine war is fought to a stalemate and it is not worth the lives of the people dying daily on both sides. I get that we all believe Putin and Russia are in the wrong, but it makes no odds now. I didn’t like the performance in the Oval office (by any of them), but Trump is right, the war must end – and that means persuading the Russians to end it.
I spent 35 years in the British Army, Gordon Highlanders and SA Army and operated in Rhodesia, Belfast, SWA, Israel and RSA. That politicians start wars is a fact and they end them! Soldiers do what they must do best but we certainly don’t always agree or like what we are called upon to do! That Trump has decided to intercede and stop the war in Ukraine is good. However the aggressor must be forced to stop not the defender from defending! That is called surrender. There is sufficient material out there to prove those facts. That Ukraine would want the war to end is fairly obvious, but as the Allies decided in 1944 at Potsdam, to ensure compliance as opposed to Treaty of Versailles which failed, as occurred when the Russians breached the Minsk Agreement memorandum in 2014 with its annexation of Ukraine’s Crimea. (See Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances 5 Dec 1994.for further info.)
Good points and right as far as career soldiers go. I won’t comment on the attitude of a certain Argyl & Sutherland sergeant when the Gordon’s were mentioned! My comments were more directed at conscripts and civilians, not willing combatants.
Peddie, you are uninformed and misinformed. It was the CIA – NATO & US that orchestrated the Miadan ‘Revolution of Dignity’ in Kiev’ in 2014. The Uktraine government had already agreed to a new peaceful election and four days after their concession. See the exact recording in Kiev between Victoria Nuland and Ukraine US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt. On the day of the revolution they were selecting their own Ukraine government.
The Ukraine Army has been utterly defeated. They have no bargaining chips, other than the US, none at all. It is the Russian Army holding back, because a ruthless collapse of Uktraine would be catastrophic for the Ukrainian civilians. Your Potsdam comment is stupid, likewise your misuse of the Dudbest Memorandum. The Russians can, if they wish, obliterate Keiv and do it tomorrow. Fortunately Putin is not a madman.
I am delighted that DJT and the Maga Movement have replaced the corrupt, diseased and sclerotic US Democrat Party / ‘Deep State’. It was the Europeans (Angela Merkel) who confessed to not wanting to abide by the Minsk Agreement, her words were :we just wantede to buy for time”.
What bit you? Clearly, something highly toxic.
Was it Novichok smeared on your front door handle?
Sadly Ron, there are always people in the shadows who profit from war but what has happened in Ukraine in terms of financial fraud and money laundering is outrageous. The Bankman-Fried scam was on an epic scale and involved the Ukraine connection, but the MSM did its best to ignore it.
Hi Ron, BRAVO – BRAVO – BRAVO. John Giles is not forgotten, he is certainly on my mind.
As far as I can see, President Trump wants an end to the war. He is not necessarily on Putin’s side. He wants the killing to stop, as do both Ukrainians and Russians. Why does that make him a bad person? As he says, this war should never have happened, and it would never have happened if he had been in the White House – because he would have brought the two parties together and done a deal. Now it’s a bit late for that, but at least the war could end – and this will benefit both Ukraine and Russia, but not necessarily America or Donald Trump, no matter what the legacy media would like you to believe.
Fully agree with you Alison.
Well said.
Hi Allison, BRAVO – BRAVO – BRAVO.
Trumplestiltskins only concern is getting his greedy paws on the riches of Ukraine.
Errol – GGS
Errol, take two aspirins and drink a cup of tea, then lie down. There is no cure for rabies but you may get a Darwin Award LOL.
Trump wants the keys to the kingdom, and Will KEYS is his cheerleader. So there we go, it all fits like a jigsaw…. with a number of pieces missing.
Why, thank you Errol.
Thought so. (Is the money good?)
Fully agree with Alison. My brain is exhausted with left wing media propaganda.
Will clearly you are a Putin supporter! The tone of the article can suggest no other possibilities.
Why you should support the Russian war is beyond me given your fight against Russian domminace for the last 60 odd years? Or have you just plain given up fighting? That Trump is busy with his own higher order Strategic plan to reorder the world and he does need Gaza and Ukraine getting in the way!
As many commentators have said, do not trust the US even after they have spent $Billion in your country, they will write it off in an instance. Rhodesia and RSA can attest the their geopolitical approaches never mind Afghanistan, VN and Iraq to name a few. Let’s see how long the Kurds last.
HI Peddie, if accepting reality in Ukraine, perfidity in the UK, corruption in the US Deep State, infers that I support Valadamir Putin, then you are misguided. It has nothing to do with Putin or Russia and everythihg to do with my support of Donald J. Trump and the MAGA Movement. I remind you that the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (“USSR”) ceased to exist after Mikhail Gorbachev. But, none are so blind………..
I am sorry but I lost your drift
. What point were you making?
He has no point other than to spout Kremlin propaganda.
Errol, lie down before you hurt yourself.
You have given that advice before. Try and be original…ditch the Kremlin script.
Well, you can’t say this isn’t brisk! Obviously a highly divisive topic even for people generally on the same side. I don’t know Will or Erroll, but I appreciate that they differ. I rather agree with will about John Giles who was a very clever constitutional lawyer (or so I thought as a student at UR) and it was certainly the belief of the student body that he was bumped off. Margaret Thatcher herself had severe misgivings about exactly what happened. We will never really know, just like Ukraine. It is only 6 or 7 people commenting and it depends on what we think the right facts are. I am certainly not convinced that Will’s perspective is Russian propaganda, I think he is probably right, but I am not going to accuse anyone else of being “wrong”. We will see in time – and probably even then it will be debatable. Now, I have work to do…
Ron, we would not dream of strong-arming your good an opinion LOL. Ron are you also a legal eagle? You might be interested to know that the Managing Editor of this excellent news podcast and myself, have talked to the ‘operative’ that was assigned to go to the UK and ‘take out’ the three MI5 officers that murdered John Giles. The operation was betrayed a nd the operative arrested in Holland. The names of the three MI5 murderers is known, but not by me. Our source is uninpeachable, John Giles was thrown from a high window to his death. I hope the murderers get what they deserve, here or in the here-after,
So it is OK for your Kremlin buddy to dispose of the unwanted opposition by tossing them from high windows.
Or blow up their plane, (I expect the crew were just collateral damage?) or smear Novichok on door handles? (Again, no regard for the collateral damage that killed an innocent lady.)
Or targeting children’s hospitals? (Never mind the collateral damage…. so long as you get the kids….. tough on the doctors, nurses, cleaners and visitors.)
Not to mention the deaths in custody… I guess you see those as just a way of passing the time.
Congratulations! Nice company you keep.
PS Feel free to add all the other methods of murder that appeal to you.
The nay sayers don’t want to hear the truth. NATO are the aggressors. Jeffery Sacks explained it fully in his speech to the EU military conference a week or so ago. None so blind as those that will not see
John, BRAVO – BRAVO – BRAVO
Will frankly I don’t care if yiu support Trump or not. I see much good in what he is doing in the US and surely he is by his highly unorthodox diplomatic methods causing a vast upheaval in the US and EU! That the US should stop defending effete elites in Europe I agree with. They must pay their way!
I do realise Putin is an ex member of the KGB and more than just a tyrant! If yiu are proposing to defend his invasion of Ukraine then I can never accept any rationale that supports that approach. Enough has been written in this regard for me to rehash here and then clearly you refuse to accept the concept of an illegal attack on Ukraine. But we could debate that further should you wish.
My concern is that Trump may be going to far in his attempts to end the war by leaning on the weaker party and giving far to much lee- way to Putin.
From what I read there is more chance of you being jailed for Facebook posts in Britain under ‘Two Tier’ Keir Starmer than under the ‘tyrannical’ Putin. I am told Putin is very popular in Russia. If Tommy Robinson was in one of Putin’s prisons, I wonder what the MSM would have to say?
Rogue Nations stick together. Russia, Iran, North Korea and China join in applauding their latest recruit, the USA.
Good response Peddle
Hello Will,
I happen to agree with what you wrote. There is a lot of mud slinging going on. I think we should all take a breath and wait and see. No one knows what is going to happen, even the most astute pundits would never have guessed that Trump would once again inhabit the white house, 4 years after the debacle that happened at the end of his term. 80 percent of Americans liked his speech to the congress, but judging by the Democrat reaction you would not think so. I was a Rhodesian who served 3 years in bothe the RAR and RLI, and up until 1980, I thought all was good. I left Rhodesia, but as a farmer almost went back as everyone said it was great especially into the early 90s…..but here is where the “you never know” comes in….land grabs and killing septillion percent inflation, no viable currency, despot rule. You never know and can’t predict for certain. Wait and see before you pin your life on it.
Alan, BRAVO – BRAVO – BRAVO
Peddie, before you decide to die on that hill, remember the invasion of inter alia, Granada; Kosovo; Panama. All were US invasions and justified by the USA under the International Law provisions of ‘hot pursuit’.
