Hannes Wessels,
Watching events unfold in England, as a dangerously polarised country edges ever closer, to conflict brings me no joy despite the fact I consider myself a victim of British political perfidy. Nothing that is happening there now surprises me; in fact, the only surprise is that it has taken the native English so long to take to the streets in anger.
It is virtually impossible to conclude that the situation that now presents itself will be resolved peacefully; the deadline for conflict-free resolution passed many years ago when the number of migrants might have been more tightly controlled and limited to those applicants more inclined to assimilate into the indigenous culture and be more receptive to the fundamental values of the British people.
History might well show us that the last chance was lost in late 2019 when Boris Johnson, despite a massive mandate from an electorate desperate for decisive action on immigration, proceeded to do little other than lock his country down for two years on a false premise, (See Footnote) failed to remove the UK from the legal stranglehold of the European Convention or Human Rights [ECHR] and repeal the egregious 1998 Human rights Act, and then indulged himself strutting on the international stage in support of Ukraine.
Instead, successive British governments have left the doors wide open to millions of foreigners who receive state benefits, who reject British culture, values and history, and maintain their separate political and religious identities. While all are far from militant extremists, four million Muslims (nearly 7% of the population of England) constitute a potential force for violent transformation, not to mention other ethnic migrant groups, notably from Africa.
Just how a populace repeatedly elects politicians who have resolutely led the country down the road to self-destruction, is difficult to understand but while guilt, stupidity and apathy are important factors, I see this tragic conflation of events from a somewhat different perspective coming from where I do, and having experienced what I have.
Having been born and bred in what was then Rhodesia, it was a galling and bewildering period of time in my young life, and that of many of my countrymen and women, being exposed to a hostile world and scapegoated and scorned by a multitude of British politicians, journalists and religious leaders who saw me as a ‘privileged’ white member of a community that was endemically racist and prosperous only due to the suppression, (invariably described as ‘brutal’) of black people.
This was simply not true. Most whites were very decent people, acutely aware of the fact that their future could only be assured if a formula was found for improving the quality of life of all races and strenuous efforts in that regard (especially in relation to Black education – Rhodesia was praised by a 1953 United Nations reports as having the best, most advanced provision in Africa) were being made, but none of this mattered to the politicians riding the anti-colonial, anti-racist, anti-white bandwagon.
The problem for us then, as it is now for the rump of the British working class, is the facts matter not; what is more important is political posturing and this explains the current behaviour of the Starmer administration, the press, and the clerics; all are committed to demonstrating their nauseating piety in defence of ‘minorities’ and utterly indifferent to the plight of the people who have belatedly discovered they have lost their country and fear for the lives and future of their children.
Just as we, as a minority in Africa, were denied the opportunity to plead our case to the world, those in Britain who feel strongly about shutting the borders and better protection for them and their families, are being arrested and imprisoned for voicing those fears under ‘hate-crime’ laws. This silencing, which Elon Musk rightly compares to the way the Soviet Union was run, (in the last year some 3,300 people have been arrested in the UK for social media posts) has increased frustration and exacerbated tensions; the knifing to death of three little girls in Stockport was the trigger that led to violent upheaval – not least because the authorities refused initially to provide any information about the killer, creating a media vacuum that fed intense speculation and helped to spawn conspiracy theories.
The response from the authorities to the recent riots was quick and harsh and within days many of the so called ‘far-right’ perpetrators are behind bars commencing lengthy prison sentences. While they broke the law and deserve their punishment, opposition mobs, many armed, calling for the radical transformation of the country to fall more in line with their ideologies, appear often to be encouraged, protected and condoned. Law enforcement appears to be far from even-handed, and the prime minister has acquired the sobriquet ‘TwoTierKier’ as a result.
Looking at this from afar I believe it was politicians of precisely the same ilk; cowardly opportunists, who vilified a productive European minority in Africa, destroyed them, and used their power and influence to bring Robert Mugabe to power, who wield power in Britain today. God help the good people of England!

Thank you, Hannes; . I have just finished listening to today’s UK Column News, another source of reliable comment in a time of lies and deceit. Very recently, I found out, from far left Starmer, that I would be classified as a far right thug inclined to fascism, in his world. With that in mind, Rowley’s rash threat to ‘come after’ anybody that Tweets anything the regime decides is ‘hate speech’, house arrest and the apprehension of anybody filming events, the following comment seems apt:
In the chapter on “Arrest” in Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn’s *The Gulag Archipelago*, the author vividly recounts the terrifying and arbitrary nature of arrests in the Soviet Union. Solzhenitsyn describes how individuals, often innocent, were abruptly seized by the secret police. The chapter reveals the chaotic and dehumanizing process: from the midnight knock on the door to the hasty, invasive searches of homes. The arrested are portrayed as being stripped of their dignity and privacy, their lives upended without explanation or trial.
Solzhenitsyn’s narrative underscores the pervasive atmosphere of fear and suspicion in Soviet society. The arbitrary nature of these arrests exemplifies the government’s control and its ability to crush dissent through sheer intimidation. The chapter illustrates the broader themes of oppression and betrayal that permeate the Gulag system, as ordinary citizens
The Fake News Media can learn a lot from Hannah Arendt….
Hannah Arendt, the profound German historian and philosopher, once insightfully remarked on the dangers of pervasive dishonesty. She observed that the relentless spreading of falsehoods does not merely aim to deceive people into believing lies. Instead, it serves a more insidious purpose: to erode the very ability of individuals to discern truth from fiction.
In her analysis, Arendt warned that when a society becomes so overwhelmed by deceit that it can no longer distinguish between what is true and what is false, it also loses the ability to distinguish right from wrong. This moral and intellectual confusion leaves people powerless to think critically or make informed judgments.
Under such circumstances, Arendt argued, individuals unknowingly fall under the sway of manipulation and control. When truth is obscured and lies become the norm, it creates a population that, whether intentionally or not, is entirely subjected to the whims of those who perpetuate the falsehoods. In such a state, the people are vulnerable to being governed by deceit, unable to resist or challenge the forces that exploit their confusion.
Arendt’s reflection serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and integrity in the pursuit of truth. In a world where lies can so easily obscure reality, the ability to think clearly and judge fairly becomes crucial in maintaining freedom and justice.
So true Phil. I think the main reason the ‘working class’ is the force for change is because they are actually confronting the problems in their everyday lives; they are responding in spite of being lied to by successive governments that work with the media in deceiving the populace.
Biden’s AMERICA is FAST heading to what the old Soviet Union was like in the last years of it’s Pathetic life AND CANADA, is very fast on that same HELLWARD bound Path as well…
Great article and read. Agree fully. For a mud island that fits into Zimbabwe x 2+ and SA 9x+ theres certainly a lot people and problems. Trump / Farage I see as the only solution but of course it wont happen the way we Rhodesians think.
After the way the brits et al treated us in Rhodesia they deserve what they have created.
Having just returned from a week in Wales I can report firsthand what is happening there, and it’s not good: litter everywhere – sometimes worse than we often see here in Africa – and often not a British face to be seen, just immigrants from Asia and Africa. And that is no exaggeration so I am wondering what the actual immigrant population in Britain is. I am NOT wondering why there is this violent push back by Britons, just amazed that it took so long, like you Hannes. Because what I saw was bad, and if I lived there I too would be very, very angry to see my country reduced to the third-world-like pile of simmering faeces that we saw! My synopsis? Even if they actually start to do something to try to protect the UK’s natives and their children from the immigrant hordes to come, the immigrant hordes that are already there will see to it that this process of self-destruction, the ever-skyrocketing nasty effects of their arrival will no doubt continue and worsen, and the final relinquishing of decent British values, beliefs and law will continue unabated. The pathetic powder puff “Police” appear at their most useless and ineffective, our British Bobby is now extinct, and their quivering woke replacements are completely out of their depth. Alia iacta est. The work of the WEF and EU appears done! The wheel turns for the British politicians who are getting a taste of the havoc they intentionally wrought upon Africa, although they will no doubt have the means to distance themselves from the murder, rape and pillaging they have caused. My heart goes out to the wonderful British people, who, like us, didn’t elect their politicians to sell out their electorate and destroy their homes. They are indeed fooked, as they say in Cardiff.
Well done, you could not have said it better. The UK Europe Left will win, in time get what they want because they want it far more than the other side want to preserve a civilisation that has done light years more than any other in advancing civilisation.
The Pomeranian Muppets voted for disaStarmer…you vote for excrement..you get to wallow in it.
You nailed it Hannes!
Hello Hannes . . . I will be launching the second book of the Zambezi Trilogy in London next year – all being well, and if the country has managed to pull back from the brink by finding a suitably Churchillian leader. I felt what you have written so much sums up the feeling of betrayal we all have . . . that you might be interested in the author’s note to this book, designed to set the scene for the agonies endured between the two independences 1965 to Lancaster House. Will get it to you. Jill
Thanks Jill I look forward to reading it and wishing you everything of the best with your new book.
Good to read. There are people reading and listening.
Refreshing memories are needed.
Not satisfied with the handiwork of their Carrington and Thtcher chosen lad Robert Mugabe – they then decided to prolong their Utopia binge in Zimbabwe and masterminded a military assisted transition to take the people further down in Zimbabwe.
10 million facing famine, 5 million in the diaspora and 3.5 million young persons jobless in Zimbabwe. This is the outcomes based measure of Thatcher, Carrington, Fraser and Soames raising a glass of champagne saying “here’s to the Foreign Office” as they jetted out of the Lusaka CHOGM!
MS was reluctantly forced down this route, Carrington just a total C U Next Tuesday, seemed to enjoy it? The rot started much earlier, the communist Wilson, Dr Death (Owen), Healy et al got the process going at the behest of the US?
I’m currently in the UK, so found this of particularly interest. The South is little changed, the people from reasonably well off to mega wealthy, a lot not particularly happy about the COL, immigration and a lot of middle class life today, but mostly only really interested in bettering their own careers and lives.
The many frustrations, the population make up to the North is, as the demonstrations showed, another storey all together.
Where will all this go? I suspect the demonstrations will get worse but in the end the damage done goes so deep, the population is so cowed, guilt ridden, that the WOKE and evil iron fist of the Left will successfully squash opposition in their drive for their 1984 type society?
Well said, Hannes. Just think how well Rhodesia would have been doing now had Perfidious Albion bowed out?
2 tier Keir is a puppet of the Demonic WEF, UN as is Biden, Kamela, Obummer, Macron, Ardern and our creepy Trotskyist PM in Asstraliar Anthony Albosleazy…..
Anthony Abosleazy would be a marginally better spelling to accurately describe that apologist-Commie who last check, is about to have his own hands full with the Muslims in Australia threatening to infiltrate the political arena. Hannes has nailed this UK-issue as usual.
Oops, I left out Castro junior from that list of WEF retrobates by mistake…. Albosleazy and his Labor comrades are in the process of importing thousands of Gazan refugees without security clearances……what could possibly go wrong!!!!
I commend to all “The Beginnings” by Rudyard Kipling. The English are beginning to hate, and there is no wrath like that of the awakened English.
But when. I suspect it is already too late !
Too little, too late. Too busy watching match of the day, Coronation street/Eastenders/Strictly come dancing/Britain’s got talent etc and all that mind-numbing trash pushed onto them by the ‘media’, to distract them into a coma like trance, while the nefarious slime in successive ‘Governments’, made laws and rules to ensure their greed, trough-feeding and power could never be removed in total. Yes, Britain, you got your just deserves.
Great article Hannes. Misguided and misruled is correct indeed.
Warwick, misguided and misruled applies to just about every country on the planet
