Will Keys,

I wish to examine the lead-up to the Ukraine war and a review one year into the conflict. The standard court oath to swear to tell:  “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth’ applies.

The western mainstream media has collaborated very effectively with the Biden Administration to cover up the facts leading up to the Ukraine tragedy. I will attempt to tease out the truth.

The collapse of the Soviet Union began to unravel in 1989 and was the beginning of the end of the Cold War. Russia was left exposed and badly weakened.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and the reunification of Germany in 1990, US Secretary of State James A. Baker told Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev that “NATO’s jurisdiction would not be extended one inch to the east.”  Both agreed that a period of mutual aggression was over; the Warsaw Pact was redundant and so was the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO). The dawn of a new era of peace appeared to be upon us but this was not to be.

The Warsaw Pact Treaty that bound the fifteen countries to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (“USSR”) was rapidly dissolving. Hungary, East Germany, and Czechoslovakia resigned from the Pact in 1990, and Poland followed in 1991. These countries were soon absorbed into NATO and an even more aggressive alliance threatened Russia.

A depleted and weakened Russia, looking for new buffers against western belligerence negotiated a replacement treaty with Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, and it was titled the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (“CSTO”). Ukraine chose not to join. Serbia decided to be an observer.

CSTO was established in 2002, and its inaugural charter reaffirmed that participating states would avoid using threatening force against any country. The treaty further stated:  “…….not to join other military alliances or states, and that aggression against one member would be perceived as an aggression against all. To this end, the CSTO holds yearly military command exercises for the CSTO nations to have an opportunity to improve inter-organization cooperation.”

.

NATO membership has since grown to thirty, with North Macedonia being the latest member in 2020.  The fundamental NATO tenets are: upholding democracy, including tolerance of diversity.  Members must make progress towards a market economy.  They must affirm civilian control over their military forces and respect sovereignty outside their borders. They must be good neighbours. Compatibility with NATO military forces is a priority.

Article 5 of the NATO Treaty affirms that “any attack on a NATO member in Europe or North America “shall be considered an attack against them all.”  It is important to note that Ukraine is not a member of NATO.

Ukraine and Russia have been joined at the hip for a thousand years and primarily share a common language.  Kyiv, now Ukraine’s capital, was the centre of the first Slavic state, Kyivan Rus, and the birthplace of Ukraine and Russia.  The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, declared that “Russians and Ukrainians are one people, a single whole.”   Unfortunately, NATO and the US deliberately poisoned the well of goodwill between these two related countries.

Knowing the history between these two Slavic states, the question arises: Why are NATO and the US engaged in a proxy war in Ukraine?  I submit that it is self-evident that NATO and the US were unreasonably and clandestinely provocative in revolutionary adventurism using the CIA.  Why? Because they could and wars are good for business.

This begs two further questions, under what scenario can NATO and the US claim to be directly threatened under international law? And, on what grounds did the CIA and State Department justify their direct interference in the internal affairs of a democratically elected Ukraine Government?

The CIA and US State Department orchestrated the 2014 Maidan revolution to bring down the elected Government of President Viktor Yanukovych. The election of Yanukoyvch had been judged free and fair by international observers.  We will provide evidence to prove the illegal interference later in this article.

The first Ukraine President in 1991 was Leonid Kravchuk.  He affirmed that Ukraine would be non-aligned and stipulated that there were no plans to join NATO.  The maturation process in all new democracies results in tensions that must be dealt with through the appropriate institutions.  Russia and Ukraine had rejected communism and were trying desperately to establish democratic institutions.

The Russians repeatedly and vociferously protested about NATO and US encroachment in the second decade following Ukrainian independence.  Their protestations were ignored.  President Putin quoted directly from NATO’s charter in a high-profile speech in Munich in 2007.  In his complaint about NATO’s expansion into Eastern Europe, he said, “It is obvious that NATO expansion has nothing to do with modernising the alliance or ensuring European security.

The evidence of CIA and State Department agent provocateur manipulations in the 2014 Ukraine Coup is found in the tapped telephone conservation between Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and the US Ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt.  They were in Ukraine and triumphant about their handiwork.  The recording was released, probably by Russia.  I remind the reader that the truth is the truth.

Pyatt’s voice: I think we’re in play. The Klitschko (Vitaly Klitschko, one of three main opposition leaders) piece is obviously the complicated electron here. Especially the announcement of him as deputy prime minister and you’ve seen some of my notes on the troubles in the marriage right now so we’re trying to get a read really fast on where he is on this stuff. But I think your argument to him, which you’ll need to make, I think that’s the next phone call you want to set up, is exactly the one you made to Yats [Arseniy Yatseniuk, another opposition leader]. And I’m glad you sort of put him on the spot on where he fits in this scenario. And I’m very glad that he said what he said in response.

Nuland’s voice: “Good. I don’t think Klitsch should go into the government. I don‘t think it’s necessary; I don’t think it’s a good idea…………………”

The above is available on the internet.

Victoria Nuland has been up to her neck in illegality.  It is now apparent that the US Government orchestrated the transfer of power and has effectively brought the Ukrainian Government and its politicians under its control.  NATO and the US Government own this war and must take responsibility for the outcome.

Ethnic Russian speakers in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia provinces of Ukraine strongly opposed the new US sponsored regime. A civil war erupted, primarily in the eastern Donetsk and Luhansk provinces, with ethnic Russians fighting the proxy government in central and western Ukraine.  Over ten thousand civilians were killed in the Donbas by the Ukrainian Army, firing artillery shells discriminately at civilian infrastructure.

Russia was forced by the predicates of decency to come to the aid of the ethnic Russians; what else could they do?  The Donetsk and Luhansk provinces faced six years of relentless artillery and military attacks.  They were outnumbered and outgunned by the NATO-armed and trained Ukraine army.

The western hemisphere propaganda machine, ultimately controlled by Biden Administration and its intelligence services, ruthlessly vilified Russia and its leaders. The fake news broadcasters, amongst others, CNN; ABC; NBC; MSNBC; CBS, and to some extent Fox News, followed the same jaundiced propaganda mantra.  Those who did not oppose Putin and Russia were potential enemies of the state.  Putin was portrayed as the devil.  By remaining blind and deaf, the mainstream legacy media ignored the journalistic ethos of ‘fair and balanced’ reporting with investigative objectivity.

They failed to report the other side of the story that Russia is a Christian nation, and Vladimir Putin is a comparatively religious Christian man. “Those without fault are invited to throw the first stone”.  Russia has survived a challenging period of historical adjustment.

Based on the evidence already in the public domain, POTUS Joe Biden is infinitely more corrupt and evil than President Vladimir Putin.

Donetsk and Luhansk provinces of Ukraine were invaded by Russia on 24th February 2022 in what was described as a Special Military Operation (“SMO”).   The SMO was founded on the principles of international law that protect citizens who are in imminent danger.  As a matter of life and death, ethnic Russians occupied four Eastern Ukrainian provinces and requested the SMO.

In truth, President Putin ostensibly underestimated the fear of retribution that the Ethnic Russians faced.  The citizens had to be sure that the Russians were there to stay, and when they were satisfied, they voted to rejoin Russia.  All four provinces voted the same way.

Once the protection of ethnic Russians was secured, a settlement of the Donbas war was a Russian preference.  In Istanbul, Turkey, Ukraine put forward a set of proposals that the Russians were considering.  British Prime Minister Boris Johnson put a kibosh on the settlement when he flew to Ukraine.  In alliance with the Biden Administration and the EU, the British Government wanted a military solution.  Their irresponsible decision-making can only be explained by their belief that Russia would lose in Ukraine.

As 2022 dragged on, the world got dragged into the quagmire of the Ukraine war.  Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian President, undertook a circus tour of Congressional chambers and Parliaments worldwide in response to the idiocy of the Biden Administration.

In the meantime, Ukraine has been destroyed, and the young soldiers on both sides have been slaughtered in their tens of thousands to satisfy illogical US aspirations, perfidious Albion’s self-serving needs, and Woke German insanity.

The final insult to peace was the US navy divers’ illegal sabotaging of the Nord Stream pipelines.  It is a crime in International Law and an act of war.  It goes without saying that the US cannot admit to it because it is criminal.  They stand condemned regardless.

This article is written on Friday, 24th February 2023.  The Russians are on attack all along the frontlines in Ukraine.  As the Zen Master said, “we’ll see”.

The western leaders are playing Russian roulette, and the bullets have nuclear triggers.   The US has wasted over one hundred billion dollars and will still lose the Ukraine war.   China, India, and the global south are appalled at the irresponsibility of US and EU leaders.

I end this article with the statement that I am pro-USA and love the American people with traditional values.  I don’t believe that any rational person who understands what happened could approve of what the US has done.

The woke can do as they please.

  1. They are there thanks to Stalin’s ethnic cleansing of Ukrainians by starvation during the Holodomor in the 1930s, then replacing them with ethnic Russians.

Really? Joseph Stalin(Georgian) and Lazar Kaganovich( Jewish) replaced starving Ukrainians with ethnic Russians?
Absurd! Holodomor mainly affected eastern and central areas of Ukraine at that time populated by russian speaking people.
    They were ethnic Russians.

    1. Hi Igor, don’t you appreciate that communist Russia fell, and the Warsaw Pact was dissolved? Russia wanted to be pro-west and Christian, isn’t that good. Do you think that the US ‘war crime’ of bombing a German/Russian civilian pipelines is not aggression? What about the twenty seven bio-labs that the US established in Ukraine? Believe it or not, I love the US and Americans, but I’m also fair and balanced.

      1. I agree with Mr Keys ‘opinion’ in regards to the USA and Ukraine. It is a pity that Mr Keys opted to use journalistic licence with his heading “The Truth, The Wole Truth, And Nothing But The Truth” to give it more journalistic appeal, the same tactic Mr Key’s so-called “main-stream media” use. Mr Keys would be aware that when arguing points of law, the truth gets muddied or covered up. The jury forms theri ‘opinion’ based on the strength of the lawyers ‘argument’ either for or against the accused, in many cases the ‘truth’ gets lost. Before the readers of this forum attack Mr Key’s opinion ask yourself, where was your moral outrage, when the USA invaded Iraq based on the lie of EMD’s.

  2. I am astounded that you had the audacity to write this article. In the unlikely event that Russia wins this war having sacrificed hundreds of thousands of Russians in the process. Will you still be defending your best Christian friend Putin when he invades Poland. Or heaven forbid he launches a nuclear war, which is quite possible.

    1. Hi Mangolink, I am astounded by your ignorance. Russia will win the war and Ukraine will have been un-necessarily reduced to rubble. Have you not worked out why NATO and the US have interfered in the internal affairs of the Ukraine? I am pro USA MAGA but I’m not stupid.

  3. Quote from article “Donetsk and Luhansk provinces of Ukraine were invaded by Russia on 24th February 2022”.
I do not consider it correct to say Russia ‘invaded’. More correct to say entered – as liberators.

What is happening is the Globalists have lost control of Russia and either want the control back or teach Russia a lesson or both. Both.

Globalists moved into China. Not sure what is happening there now.

Putin knows all about the Bolshevik Russian history. He is Christian, anti communist and anti the New World Agenda.

You in South Africa or rather the authors of this site do not seem to understand the real enemy. Many SA’s I have spoken to do. The ANC was communist backed and communist advised – Joe Slovo and others. Mandela was communist and so is Ramaphosa or should I say Cyril as this site calls him. How did Ramaphosa afford his farm complete with imported stock. Imported because of ego.

I have Hannes Wessels’ book A Handful Of Hard Men a thoroughly good book and considers the communist connections.

    China now has Rhodesia.

    1. Hi Brian, I lived in Queensland, Brisbane, Australia for the past forty years. I agree with your general sentiments.

  4. Spent many a year troubled as I didn’t join my mates and get killed in Viet Nam…54 yrs as a Airline Captain I was planning on flying for Doctors without borders in Rodesia/Zimbabwe full time in my retirement. Had been doing mission work there for years…rebuilding schools (FIVE) drilling potable water wells 8…and 15 wells repaired. supporting the hospital nearby and yes with the Shona tribe built a bridge across the small creek to the schools. Then the mail box got torn down. Murewa area.

    1. Hi Dale, you sound like a good man. I was in the BSAP and stationed at Mtoko which bordered Mrewa.

  5. Russia and Ukraine have not been joined at the hip for 1000 years, but I won’t go into that here, anyone interested can look it up for themselves. However, what I came here to say is that I cannot believe that you wrote this whole article in defence of ethnic Russians in Eastern Ukraine without saying once how they got there in the first place – less than 100 years ago. They are there thanks to Stalin’s ethnic cleansing of Ukrainians by starvation during the Holodomor in the 1930s, then replacing them with ethnic Russians. I am sure you know this and it is a disgrace that you did not mention it. Nations have long memories and Ukraine has not forgotten the Holodomor – there are still a few of them alive who remember it. I have no time for Biden and his lifelong corrupt ways, and even less for the machinations of the US Dem-led deep state and the powerful arms lobby, but do not, ever, forget that Ukraine is fighting to remain a sovereign nation with its own language and culture. Had Putin’s initial invasion succeeded in eliminating Zelensky and his government and installing their own which, by the way, all western observers including the US believed initially that he would, if you seriously think that he would not then have indulged in a second ethnic cleansing of Ukrainians in less than 100 years, then you are living on another planet.

    1. Putin only sent the military in after he failed to get an assurance that Ukraine would not join NATO. The Russians were goaded into this war,

      1. Putin goaded NATO by annexing Crimea. NATO did nothing because under regulations they couldn’t, but they did set about ensuring that Ukraine could defend itself against further aggression. The fact that they did nothing emboldened Putin to go for the rest (his 7000-word essay written in the summer of 2020 refers), and he knew he had to do it sooner rather than later. He under-estimated the Ukrainian Army and military command as did many others, and he also misjudged the Ukrainian’s fierce determination to remain a sovereign nation. The history of Russian/Ukraine relations has always been a fractious and a bloody one. 2-3 million Ukrainians starved to death during the Holodomor refers.
I’m puzzled. Why was it right for white Rhodesians to fight to retain their country, but not right for the Ukrainians, with a far longer history of being Ukrainian, to fight for theirs?

        1. Hi Petaseel, I certainly respect the Ukrainians for wanting to be independent of Russia. However, Crimea and the four East provinces were ethnically Russian. Zelensky came to power with a promise to negotiate, he was hampered in his ambitions by the Nazi Azov battalions. I’m hoping you are aware that Russia, for years, wanted to negotiate a peaceful settlement but NATO and US endlessly obfuscated. The 2014 US inspired Maidan revolution is an eye-opener. Make no error most of my life has been opposed to Russia, but FGS Putin and Russia threw off communism, and I appreciate that.

    2. Hi Petaseel, my family and friends, many are Americans, will attest to the fact that I have always been very pro-USA. I remain in awe of the US Constitution and their Founding Fathers. Having made that declaration I respectfully disagree with your assessments. Russia is and has been a very difficult country to govern. Vladamir Putin, in my opinion, has done a magnificent job. Have you watched the Oliver Stone ‘Putin Interviews’? Are you aware of the Victoria Nuland antics in Ukraine? Are you aware that Joe Biden had special responsibility for Ukraine and his abuse of power. Once fully informed it would be intellectual suicide not to be prudent, fair and balanced, when assessing the US conduct in Ukraine. The legacy MSM and Censureship Industrial Complex are deliberately faking the news, are you aware of this?

  6. what a load of bo..acks Putin is off his head 11million displaced Ukrainians, killing children is not acceptable in away shape or form

  7. Your concise historical information is needed.
The comment, by Francois, is wrong. Could be a troll, scamp.

The inverted thinking of Ukrainian forces, those who follow Zel, are the ones who hurt fellow Ukrainians.

On Y T, see Laure Anne Bonnel, there is a 02 hour video by Suisse press. The first 40 minutes show the decent citizens that are affected by these forces.

Redacted, Y T, with Clayton Morris, scroll down to the title Grayzone.
Max Blumenthal and Wyatt Reed give harrowing experiences.

    Dance schoen.

    1. Will I am afraid your bias in favour of Russia is more than heavy, it smacks one in the face!
There can never be a justification of all out war on your weaker neighbour, and then when you fail to get your way, you deliberately target the civilian population by firing artillery missiles and murderous attacks by Russian soldiers on the Ukrainian people. The whole world is out of step only Russia is not!
Of course one can justifiably argue that NATO was nasty to Russia! But is there any sane person who would believe NATO was planning to attack Russia with German Bundesheer not budget not even reaching 1% if German GDP? Year Billions of US $ % of GDP
      2021 $56.02B 1.34%
      2020 $53.21B 1.39%
      2019 $49.01B 1.26%

      1. Hi David, You say “There can never be a justification of all out war on your weaker neighbour”, then explain the US special military operation (“SMO”) into Granada; Panama; Lybia; Iraq; Cuba; Honduras; Afghanistan……………….22 countries in last 20 years. “What is good for the goose…..” Do you not know that Ukraine shelled Donetsk civilians first, killing over ten thousand.
You say, “The whole world is out of step only Russia is not!” Don’t you know that China, India, Brazil, RSA and a host of other nations abstained from voting with the US in the UN? The UE are the biggest hypocrites of all. Germany persuaded a reluctant
Russia to supply gas and both to invest in Nord Stream. You make my case re UE and NATO they have been passengers.

  8. Presently the US is governed by absolute blithering idiots. The weakest of the weak. And weak men make hard times.

  9. Hi
You say “They failed to report the other side of the story that Russia is a Christian nation, and Vladimir Putin is a comparatively religious Christian man.” Really? Christ said that you will know a person by the fruits they bear. He can claim to be a Christian but the fruits he bears contradict those claims. You do not bomb your neighbor’s civilians and claim you are a Christian.
We all know that the USA are warmongers. We know Biden privately holds many secretive agendas. But you cannot criticize Zelenskyy for defending his people.
    Francois Barnard

    1. I agree with your general sentiments. The Ukrainian Government bombed the ethnic Russians in the Donbas after they rejected the illegal coup that ousted the elected Ukraine Government. Putin professes to be a Christian, I am happy to accept that assurance. From the Russian perspective the US and NATO are the aggressors. Zelensky is quite obviously not in charge of the Ukraine army. He is an ethnic Russian speaker and proposed to settlement in Istambul, the perfidious British scuttled it.
